Lucie Update- Mar 22, 2015

Happy Sunday Friends,

Lucille has been so thankful to have so many people wanting to come visit her. Today she got to have her Uncle Scott and Aunt Katie come visit. One of our Nurse Practitioners came in and even thought he and I were related :D.

Fun facts for Lucie Pie: Weight - 2,860 grams or 6 pounds 5.5 ounces Breathing - down to 0.0125 L/min on the low flow. Also, she crushed her entire bottle last night AND this afternoon!

Although we are still tired, it definitely helps to have some great updates throughout the week to keep our spirits high. We have had quite an eye opening week helping us to somewhat understand just how gracious and sovereign God has been over us, protecting Lucie from a lot of difficulties that COULD HAVE come her way, but thankfully havn't and we're SO thankful that we didn't even need to know what those things could have been. It feels like we are slowly walking through a maze. While in the maze, it is dark, cold and there is no end in sight with all it's crazy turns. Looking from above you can see every monster of a disease, malfunction or infection behind the paper thin walls licking their chops for a wrong turn to happen. We can't see what's ahead, and it is only by the Lord's love and grace that we have we been able to maintain this course.  Even though we cannot see the end of the maze, we know we are on the Lord's path and He is protecting Lucie (and us) every step of the way no matter what additional tests, hurdles and trials may come our way.  Drea shared a verse with me this week that I felt was right on the mark..., "And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left" (Isaiah 30:21).  Through God's mercy, your prayers and support we have been able to endure this course for the past three months. Honestly at times it doesn't even seem like we are making it, but then we receive a loving comment, note, letter, meal, or text and it fills us with such a boost to continue on. Thank you all so so much!

Love,

Los Hicksons
