Lucie Update- Mar 15, 2015

Happy Sunday Friends,

We are so grateful for the weekends!  Aren't you?  We got a TON of stuff done from our "To Do" list.  Plus, we got to hang out with dear friends, stroll through our neighborhood with a cup of coffee and best of all, hang out with Lucille :).

For some reason yesterday's update notification did not get sent out, although we did post one. So if you want to look back, you can go ahead and check it out! After the update, when we called to see how Lucie was doing before we went to bed, we learned that she gained some more weight and rang in at 5lbs, 13oz, or 2,650 grams!  She's our little chunky monkey!  Today she lost about 20 grams and was 2,630 grams but that was ok since the day before she had such a big jump! She has been doing great on the Low Flow Nasal Canula respiratory support and seems to be a pretty content darling.  When we hung out with her today, she had a visitor all the way from South Carolina!  Our friend Carl who we've known since we lived in Miami got to visit with her for a little while and it was so nice!

Many people have asked us, by when do the Doctors think Lucie will be able to come home?  Well, they are still circling around her due date, which would have been April 8th.  She's been doing amazingly well, and they are all so optimistic about how she is progressing.  They want her to accomplish a couple more things before they will clear her to come home.  What are they focussing on?  Three things... 1.) they want to see her off of respiratory support, 2.) they want to see her take all of her feedings from the bottle or from me nursing her, and 3.) they want to see her be able to do those things all together: breathe and eat without assistance.  Hopefully, once she gets to that point, they will start a five-day countdown. They will observe her for five days and make sure that no monitor alarms go off. If within those five days none of her monitors set the alarms off, then she will be coming home! If she does have any issues within those five days then they start the five day count down again.

We're hopeful that our little Lucie Pie will be able to come home in the absolute perfect timing. We ask that you continue to pray for us to get the rest we all need and to be strengthend as we keep our minds and hearts set on taking it one day at a time.  We love you all!

Love,

Drea, Rob, Lucie & Bess

PS - I think I may have caught Robby's cold, so I'd love prayers for a quick recovery. Thanks! :)
