Lucie Update- Mar 13, 2015

Happy Friday!

Hope you're having a wonderful evening!  We both has good weeks, they felt long, but much was accomplished and Lucie has been getting stronger each day which is amazing to witness!

On Thursday,  Lucille took 35mLs from the bottle with the Occupational Therapist.  We found out that he has been working with her once a day and he says that she's improving as he helps her learn how to coordinate the suck, breathe and swallow functionality simultaneously.  Like we mentioned, Lucie Pie is now on "High Flow" respiratory support, where she still gets oxygen assistance, but she is doing the rest of the work breathing in and out on her own! Hooray!! She is being weaned from oxygen a little bit at a time, her O2 setting went from 28% down to 25% yesterday.

To add a little bit more color and confusion to High Flow, in addition to her having an oxygen percentage they also measure the flow in units of Liters, so she was started at 5 Liters of High Flow and this morning she was weaned down to 4 liters while her oxygen remained at 25% and didn't need to be increased!  I know this probably makes little to no sense but we want to write these details out so we can celebrate her progress even if we don't fully understand it ourselves. All of this hard work has made Lucie work up quite an appetite so her feedings have been bumped up to 50mL every three hours from 45mL. Little chunker! In fact, tonight she weighed in at 2,555 grams. A beautiful 5 pounds 10.2 ounces. Thank you all for your prayers and support. Have a wonderful night!

Love,
